MiG, et al.). A Paint- ed Redstart returned to Falfurrias, Brooks 26 Aug–27 Sep (TBr) and another was at El Paso, El Paso 19 Aug (JiP). SPARROWS THROUGH FINCHES A Chipping Sparrow at Sabine Woods, Jef- ferson 14 Aug (JHa, ph. MCo) was either a post-breeding wanderer or a very early mi- grant. Out-of-range Black-throated Spar- rows were found w. of Muenster Lake, Cooke 20 Oct (BN) and near Yorktown, DeWitt 29 Oct–28 Nov (DMu). Single Lark Buntings e. of the normal winter range were found at San Bernard N.W.R., Brazoria 20 Sep (CRi) and at Southside Water Treatment Plant, Dallas 17 Nov (CWa). A Baird's Sparrow was at Rio Bosque Wetlands Park, El Paso 17 Oct (ph. JiP) and another was near Red Bluff Res., Reeves 27 Nov (WS, ShC). A Henslow's Sparrow at Village Creek Drying Beds, Tar- rant, 15 Nov (MW, ph., m.ob.) was an excel- lent find. A Harris's Sparrow at Mustang I., Nueces 15 Nov (ph. WS) was a rarity for the barrier islands. A Hepatic Tanager was found at Rio Bosque Wetlands Park, El Paso 20 Sep (JSp). A Summer Tanager lingered at Fort Worth, Tarrant 25-30 Nov (ph. BT). West- erly Scarlet Tanagers included singles at Fort Worth, Tarrant 15 Sep (JAl, m.ob.), San An- tonio, Bexar 17 Sep (ph. TK), and Lubbock, Lubbock 3 Oct (JCr). Another lingered until the late date of 8 Nov at Sabine Woods, Jef - ferson (JHa, ph. RB, et al.). A Western Tana- ger at Houston, Harris 24 Aug (ph. DW) was the second earliest record for the U.T.C. A Crimson-collared Grosbeak was at McAllen, Hidalgo 25-28 Nov (†JBr). As many as 4 Rusty Blackbirds returned to Hornsby Bend, Travis 13 Nov+ (EB, VO); farther west one was at Utopia, Uvalde 23 Nov+ (MH). Two Hooded Orioles remained through the period at an El Paso, El Paso yard SA The Pyrrhuloxia irruption to the east was one of the more memora- ble in recent years (m. ob.). The first hints of this were reports from Bell and Travis in late August. By the end of the period, there were numerous reports to the eastern edge of the region; Travis alone had birds found at no less than 10 loca- tions, with multiple birds at two sites. One at San Luis Pass, Galveston 7-16 Nov (ph. HS, et al.) represented the farthest east occurrence reported.
