April through the end of May brought many Evening Grosbeak sightings at unexpected lowland areas through - out the Region. Two Northern Parulas were reported this season: at Corn Creek 5-6 May (GS) and Miller's R.A. 1 Jun (GS). Chestnut-sided Warblers were found at Garr Ranch, Antelope Island 29-30 May (SH, NJ), Tonopah Cemetery, Esmeralda, NV 30 May (ph. GS), Deer Creek, Spring Mountains, Clark, NV 7 Jun (ph. BM), and Mount Como, Douglas, NV 1 Jun (BW, KM). Several Hermit Warblers were observed for a few weeks at Mount Rose, Washoe, NV beginning in mid- Jul (fide MM et al.). A male Blackpoll Warbler stopped at Tonaquint Park, Washington, UT 8-9 May (ph. RF, m.ob.), and Palm Warblers were photographed in the Smoke Creek Desert, Washoe, NV 28 May (GS) and at Miller's R.A. 14 Jul (JSt). A Painted Redstart brightened Corn Creek 16-17 Apr (VD, BMu). Grasshopper Sparrows were observed at West Wendover, Elko, NV 24 & 30 Apr (CL). Utah's seventh documented Scarlet Tanager was found at Garr Ranch, Antelope Island 18 Jun (ph., †GP). A Lark Bunting was photo - graphed along Airport Rd., Cache, UT 5 Jun (CC). Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were at Sunset Park, Las Vegas, Clark, NV 3 May (AH, BZ), Sage Hen Rd., Esmeralda, NV 17-28 May (DG, RS, GS), Croydon, Mor - gan, UT 21-23 May (WS), Abandoned Ranch, Dyer, Esmeralda, NV 23 May (BS), Carson City, Carson, NV 26 May (RL), Henderson, Clark, NV 10 Jun (SR), American Fork, Utah, UT 26 Jun (SSh), and Brigham City, Box Elder, UT 29 Jun (HB). A female Painted Bunting was photographed at Arlemonte Ranch, Esmeralda, NV 17 May (ph. GS, RS, DG). A flock of 26 Bobolinks at West Wendover, Elko, NV 16 May (CL) was a nice surprise. Single Orchard Ori - oles were found at Pahranagat 9 May (GS, RS, DG) and Tonopah Cemetery, Jun (JB). Curve-billed Thrashers continued at Searchlight, Clark, NV through the spring and summer (JSt et al.). Ovenbirds were reported from several Dyer, Esmeralda, NV locations, including Sage Hen Rd. 17 May (GS, RS, DG), Abandoned Ranch 23 May (RL, BS), and Circle L 28 May (RL). A singing Ovenbird was also found at Island Lake, Elko, NV 16 Jun (DH). An early North - ern Waterthrush was at Pahranagat 3 Apr (RS, DG). Black-and-white Warblers were at Miller's R.A. 24 Apr (RS, DG), Clark County Wetlands 9 May (BZ), Arlemonte Ranch, Es - meralda, NV 12 May (GS, RS, DG), Sheldon N.W.R., Humboldt , NV 12 May (fide RS), and Smoke Creek Desert, Washoe, NV 28 May (ph. GS). Singing Tennessee Warblers graced the Silver Saddle Ranch, Carson, NV 21 May (ph. GS) and Lytle Ranch 25 May (ph. RF, S&CS). A female Golden-winged Warbler was found Ash Meadows N.W.R. 20 May (DC). A Ken - tucky Warbler was photographed at Corn Creek 8 May (†GS). Nine American Redstarts turned up in Nevada in Clark (GS), Esmeralda (RL, BS, D&RS), and Lyon (DS), and in Utah in Grand (AL, CW), Washington (CE, S&CS), One of two female Baltimore Orioles discovered in Nevada in May 2015, this bird was photographed 8 May 2015 enjoying mulberries at the Corn Creek Unit of the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, Clark County.
