Hooded Orioles that were in unexpected locations included one at San Antonio, Bexar 20 Apr–17 May (CZ, ph. m.ob.) and another at the Dos Vacas Muertes Sanctuary, Galveston 24 Apr (ShL, STh). Out- of-range Bullock's Orioles were noted at High Island, Galveston 25 Apr (CTL) and College Station, Brazos 9 May (ph., †BrC). A Purple Finch made an appearance at Lub - bock 1 Mar (ph. GJ). Fewer were found to the e., with the highest count in ne. Texas being 11 at Pleasure Acres Lake, Smith 21 Mar (MBl). The Cassin's Finch incursion from the winter extended well into the spring, with 2 at Lub - bock until 12 Apr (ph. PK) and astoundingly into May in the Davis Mountains, Jeff Davis, with the last one reported 22 May (ME, MEa). Although El Paso birders had not detected this movement of Cassin's Finches there, one was found at El Paso 25 Mar (ph. BZ). An impres - sive count of 500 American Goldfinches was tallied at Daingerfield S.P., Morris 15 Mar (DL). There were four separate Evening Grosbeaks sightings from the Trans-Pecos, which is the most in a single season since the late 1990s. One was at Boot Spring, Brewster 10 Apr–7 May (JB, ph. m.ob.), one was near Fort Davis, Jeff Davis 12 Apr (ph. TL), one was in the Da - vis Mountains, Jeff Davis 24-27 Apr (ph. ME, MEa), and 2 were nearby 29 Apr (ph. KGo). More unexpected was one w. of Bee Cave, Tra - vis 19-20 Mar (MM, ph. GLa). Cited observers (subregional editors in bold- Two Slate-throated Redstarts were found in Texas in spring/ summer 2015, one at South Padre Island and this one at the Davis Mountains Preserve, Jeff Davis County 26 May (here) through 6 June. The influx of Cassin's Finches into Texas from the winter persisted in the spring 2015 and was most obvious in the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains.
